The tulip work continues…
If the imagery of morning sun in a lush garden induces a feeling of serenity in you, “Exotic Tulips and the Bellingrath VIP” is a piece you might enjoy. A trip to Bellingrath Gardens, in Mobile, Alabama, provided the opportunity to capture some beautiful photographs. Here are a few samples you could very well see in upcoming works of art.
This painting has been on the back burner for a week or so, while “The Sentries” was completed, but the tulips have returned to the easel. This 30” x 48” canvas is about 80% complete, with a couple of tulips left to render. Groucho stands before the piece as if it were his very own.
Of course, last but not least, the yet-to-be-painted in, the stars of the composition are a pair of honey bees. I have some really great shots of bees from Bellingrath to work with, so I’ll get to them when the flora is complete.
My projected finish date is Friday, April 3rd, which was my parents' anniversary, so I’ll dedicate this one to them. I sure wish my mother could see it. I credit her for my love of gardening and the natural world. She was an adventurous woman, a watercolor painter, and an avid gardener.
You can see this piece live and in person at Magic City Art Connection, the weekend of April 24th. Look for more updates soon.
