Meet the artist, Jean Campbell

I have vivid memories, reaching all the way back to childhood, of feeling something profound when observing light in nature. My first recollection came at around five years old as I looked out at the wheat field that butted up against our backyard. It must have been the afternoon sun I saw as I stood mesmerized, unable to look away. To this day, the phenomenon of golden light stops me in my tracks. Everything else melts away, and I see nothing but what is before me. There’s a message in the captivating play of sunshine against shadow, much like the feeling of a lingering dream that you can't quite remember. Visions of gorgeous, natural light endow me with a wave of "okayness." It is healing. It is soothing. It is a form of meditation.

The inspiration is so soothing and fleeting that I want to capture it, record it, and share it with the very next person that comes along. I want you to feel the wave of okayness when you see my paintings, too. View my work as meditation in two dimensions. Feel the calm of nature. Feel the peace of just being.
