Meet the artist, Jean Campbell

Do you revel in the captivating play of brilliant sunshine against rich shadows? Visions of gorgeous, natural light are soothing, even healing. It’s like the natural world wants you to be bathed in a state of meditation. Fleeting visions that induce a sense of being a welcome part of the world are important.

I have vivid memories, reaching back to childhood, of feeling something profound when observing sunlight on objects. My first recollection came at around five years old as I looked out at the wheat field that butted up against our backyard. It must have been the afternoon sun I saw as I stood mesmerized, unable to look away.

The phenomenon of golden light still stops me in my tracks. It’s like there’s some hidden message in the imagery, much like the feeling of a lingering dream that you can't quite remember. View my work as meditation in two dimensions as I attempt to recreate these fleeting visions that can inspire peace and calm, and the feeling of being an integral part of this world.
