Breakfast at Bellingrath

If you love and appreciate the natural world and how it works, you'll enjoy this three-part artwork, “Breakfast at Bellingrath,” created to honor our hard-working Apis mellifera family. The third in my Bellingrath series features three bees, each on a separate panel, visiting a pink camellia. They are after pollen, a protein-rich food source for these girls and their babies. The flowers they visit are among the multitudes of camellias throughout Bellingrath Gardens. As anyone visiting in springtime knows, you can hear the buzzing all around you as the grounds are alive with the creatures.

Next time you're tempted to swat, please think twice. These are some of the very creatures that ensure we all eat.

I’ve signed and numbered each 11” x 14” panel and can call them done.

This triptych is sold as a set and is now available! Click the image for more info.

And, for your viewing pleasure, here are a few shots from the garden this morning.

And I’m pretty sure the carpenter bee on a lantana bush is going to land on a canvas in the very near future. Stay tuned for details!
