Acrylic on Canvas
The ginger plant in this painting, one of my first floral pieces, was a gift from my mother, who was an amazing gardener. I have taken stalks to four homes since she first gave me a small cutting to start my patch. The specimen is quite prolific, providing a multitude of exotic blooms that emit a divine aroma. The flowers appear in midsummer and continue until the first freeze, when the whole plant dies back. In this depiction, a shower of sunbeams pours into the garden, enhancing the beauty of the ornamental ginger’s delicate and enchanting flowers.
