The Essential Workers Series
If you believe that letting nature manage things as designed, you’ll enjoy the imagery of my Essential Workers series.
The paint has just dried on this latest addition, Essential Workers 3, which features a grand purple dahlia in the bright sun. The bloom was truly a vision to behold, but the main story is really the bumblebee. Don’t let all her glamour fool you with her fluffy, yellow stole and her lacy black pantaloons; she is really quite the hard worker and an absolute necessity to our environment. A plethora of plant species rely on this furry little creature for reproduction, but some of her favorites are cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, strawberries, blueberries, melons, and squash. She is clearly partial to dahlias, as well.
In the garden beds I tend, she and her sisters are my honored guests. It is just dreamy sitting amongst dozens of them as they hum and move about from one flower to the next, paying me not the least bit of attention.
Essential workers 3 comes in a thin black frame and is ready to hang.

The original 9” x 12” Essential Workers 2 is currently available. You can also own an affordable copy of this piece by investing in a limited-edition giclée reproduction.
Essential Workers 1 went to a new home at Magic City Art Connection, but affordable laser prints of this 6” x 8” acrylic piece are available.
My production pace will be slower in the coming weeks as gardening season ramps up. But time spent in the garden doubles as studio time, in a way. All my models are out there patiently waiting. I’ll be documenting and sketching in between pulling weeds and toting watering pails.
