Have you had to stop in your tracks because of a compelling composition created by light? It’s like the universe orchestrated its own little vignette just for you, and all you had to do was stand there and be a witness. That is the feeling that the shadows and light depicted in this acrylic painting evoked in me.

Richard and I were staying at an Airbnb in Strasbourg, France. It was a quaint little space in an outbuilding of a charming, old, brick manor. I happened to step into the small living room at just the right moment. The windows faced west, and the sun was just setting. There I stood, in silhouette, taking in the warmth of the sun on my back and the interesting scenery before me.

I let myself enjoy this brief vision, then snapped a quick picture. All too quickly, the imagery changed, and the moment had passed. But it left me longing for more. And so, I created “Gathering Strength”.
